On MRTYU or Death according to Sant kabir Sahib

Dear friends,
we are going to switch to English in order to allow foreign readers to access the contents of this blog.
We are sure that you will forgive mistakes due to the limited knowledge of a language that is not native for us.

Today we will post 4 couplets from Sant Kabir Sahib regarding Mrityu or Death:

The weaver weaving thread by thread,
Bring the end near
So death leads us step by step
Run if you can run far

We are creatures with a limited life-time and every second that we spend living our life, we let our death approach a little more. Of course we can'not run far enough to escape death so why should we be anguished by thinking of it?

Evening shadows darken deep
The tiger prowls for the cow
He cannot kill the cow at all
Hungry he cannot go

The cow (atma) can'not be killed beacause it is eternal and does not die.
Death, for wich the tiger is the symbol, can not proceed without having its meal.
So the individual ego and the phisical body will be its prey.
If the individual remains attached to the body and mundane life it will have to suffer from death otherwise there will be not suffer or pain in death.

Says Kabir,
never be proud
Death has thee in his chutch
Sure some day he will smother thee
At home or not as much

If we were always conscious of the approaching death we would drop all our arrogance.
Only a person that think at himself as immortal can behave in such stupid way.

At the falling dry old leaf
the tender leaf does sneer
says the falling leaf:
Today my turn, tomorrow yours Have patience, O my dear!

MRITYU is the word for death and the word AMRIT is the word for immortal, without death.

We bow at the feet of the fountain
Where the Amrit comes
Where death stops his steps
And sweet flavours never fades
